YEAR 4 CHRISTMAS SPORTS FUN DAY

 

All the year 4 classes were eagerly waiting for Thursday 17th December 2009. They are always so enthusiastic when it is time for the P.E. lesson, let alone for the Christmas Sports Fun Day!

We all know that sports help us in different ways. It keeps us physically fit and mentally strong thus we stay healthy. Also, it builds character, reduces stress and it helps in taking our mind off of school and other things. This clearly shows as children are more focused and concentrated during the lessons after a P.E. lesson.

Fortunately, on the day the weather was in our favour all the time. The children had lunch as soon as we arrived at the Mosta Boys’ Oratory Ground. They surely needed to gain energy in order to complete all the eleven games that were awaiting them! The children were then divided in groups of seven or eight. The P.E. teacher, teachers and LSAs stood at a game and every 10 to 12 minutes each group moved from one game to another. Some games were team based while others were individual games where children could perform or experiment with different equipment.  While playing Football and Handball the children were developing teamwork and communication skills whilst working together to achieve a common goal. The other games were Bouncing Balls, Balancing, Rolls, Hockey, Aiming, Agility Ladder and Skipping and these provided the children with a sense of importance and accomplishment. They also had time to rest and drink some water from time to time.
We teachers were willing and glad to teach the games and skills to the children. We could see that all the children were so involved and loving every minute of it. 

After the P.E. teacher blew the whistle indicating that the Sports Day was over, the children were asked whether they enjoyed the sports day and they all responded with cheers of agreement. Everyone involved had a brilliant day! It was very successful and lots of fun!

  1. Nhar l-Erbgħa, 21 t’Ottubru 2009, il-klassijiet kollha tar-raba’ sena morna ħarġa mal-għalliema tagħna sal-Buskett.
  2. B’xorti t-tajba t-temp kien bnazzi u m’għamlitx xita.
  3. Filgħodu, għall-ħabta tad-disgħa tlaqna mill-iskola u permezz tal-kowċ irħejnielha lejn il-Buskett.
  4. Magħna ġie ukoll l-għalliem tax-Xjenza u tana ktejjeb żgħir biex inkunu nistgħu niktbu fuqu.
  5. Kif wasalna ħadna brejk qasir sakemm l-għalliema preparaw l-attivitajiet li kellna nagħmlu fil-Buskett.
  6. Wara l-għalliema qaltilna biex inpoġġu bilqiegħda madwar siġra u qgħadna fis-silenzju biex nisimgħu l-ħsejjes li kien hemm fil-Buskett. Aħna smajna diversi ħsejjes fosthom għasafar jgħannu, il-weraq li bdew jiċċaqalqu bir-riħ u smajna lil xi tfal ta’ skola oħra li kien hemm jilagħbu fil-viċin.
  7. L-affarijiet li rajna u smajna ktibniehom u pinġejniehom fuq il-ktejjeb tax-xjenza.
  8. Wara ftit l-għalliema ġabet kaxxa mimlija strumenti tat-temp fosthom il-pinnur, l-anemometru, it-termometru u l-boxxla.
  9. Permezz tat-termometru aħna kejjilna t-temperatura u użajna l-pinnur biex inkunu nafu minn fejn kien ġej ir-riħ.
  10. Imbagħad użajna l-anemometru biex inkejlu l-forza tar-riħ li f’xi waqtiet beda jonfoħ ġmielu.
  11. Għall-ħabta ta’ nofsinhar neqsin kwart ħadna brejk ieħor u jien kelli ħafna ġuħ għax l-arja tal-Buskett fetħitli l-aptit. Il-ħobż li preparatli ommi niżilli għasel!
  12. Wara l-brejk kien baqa’ nagħmlu l-aħħar attivita’ u aħna kellna nfittxu xi nsetti biex b’hekk inkunu nistgħu npinġuhom.
  13. Tgħidx kemm dħakna x’ħin wieħed minn sħabna qabad ġurat u kien hemm min tkexkex xi ftit ukoll.
  14. Ħafna minn sħabi rnexxielhom isibu l-bebbux u dudu twil li jsejħulu ċentupied għax għandu ħafna saqajn.
  15. L-għalliema qassmitna fi gruppi u l-ewwel kellna nosservaw dawn l-annimali permezz tal-lenti u mbagħad qgħadna npinġuhom fid-dettall.
  16. Kif lestejna minn din l-attivita’ erġajna poġġejna f’posthom l-annimali u l-insetti li sibna.
  17. Jien tassew ħadt gost b’din il-ħarġa għax tgħallimt ħafna affarijiet interessanti. Jien naħseb li post bħal Buskett ikun ħafna isbaħ kieku n-nies ma jarmux l-iskart kif ġieb u laħaq iżda għandhom jużaw il-‘bins’ provduti.
